mIRC Biographie:
Well i started out with mIRC about summer 2001, until then ICQ was the only chat client i had used except of mail-newsgroups, and I didn't know anything about mIRC or IRC in general at that time.
I just had to use it, because an internet group i was part of had there irc-channel and as one of the community founders i had to be present there as well.
The first script i used was dIRC (devils IRC) and i guess it was something about mIRC version 5.4 or such it ran on. I really started to love it, because it had a scripted multiserver function in it; this was in the time long before mIRC itself contained this function. So it was pretty amazing to be able to be on more servers at once with only one mIRC instance open.
Some time after mIRC came with that function, and i kinda looked for a new script. I found NWNK-IRC, a great script btw. It was real nice in comparison to dIRC, because it was possible to change almost all visual aspects and it had many useful addons build in. But it still bothered me how some of the addons like the stats system displayed the result. So I only had one choice, starting to try to understand the mIRC code so i could change it to the look i wanted it to have. (this is not script-ripping cause i never released it)
Well time goes and after some time i began to understand most of the codes and it didn't take long until I realized that this could be done way better.
I started modifying the code, piece by piece, and also created a few patches for minor bugs and send them out to my friends.
They kinda liked it, and I began to like this scripting language, so i kept going.
Then a day about January 2003 i discovered that nothing in this script was the original code anymore, except of the %variable with the script's name tag.
This was the time where the first version of Devotion-IRC came out. - My first script which im still very proud of for that time - and it's even still used a lot around on the net.
Then i started out on some more advanced scripts with functions similar to newer scripts, NoName for example, that some of my friends used. This was with the thought of taking over those scripts users.
This was not cause they were bad scripts, but simply cause i am sure i can do it better. The first attempt i called OSiRC.
OSiRC was a great script that covered almost any situation you could get into while using mIRC including a lot of external application support. Thats why i called it OSiRC (OperationSystem-IRC). But i never finished any installation file for it, and therefor it never got released.
New versions of mIRC came out with new functions and fixed that kinda made my "worked around" functions unnecessary and made the script absolute.
I started to rewrite it all and it got the new name dJiRC instead. This is the script im still working on currently.
But because i newer was completely satisfied with it, I never released any public versions of it, instead i started to take out some parts of it and released those as snippets or addons that you can find on this page for example.
During the time i rewrote most parts of the script like 100 times, because i constantly came up with better and more efficient ways of creating it.
Currently im working on something new. It's a little script (or addon, whatever you like to call it) that connects to my webpage on request to download the exact components you want in a script and compile it together to a script-collection (what most know as just script).
This way you have all the functions you need, and none of those you don't need, making it the perfect script for everybody.
At the same time the above mentioned also will bring you the fastest script, since it doesn't need to process tons of if and else statements for disabled functions etc.
And it all has to be redone again, cause DCX is the new standard instead of MDX that i used to love.
I guess thats all until now, but I'll update as it goes along. I also want to thank you for your interest in case you really read it all and came to the end here.
